At Worthinghead, through the teaching of a modern foreign language, we aim to provide children with the opportunity to develop their communication skills and extend their knowledge of how language works whilst also learning about their own and other cultures.
We believe that by providing children with the skills to understand and respond to French through speaking, listening, reading and writing, it lays the foundation for further study of French or other foreign languages in Key Stage 3 and beyond.
Our planning is based on the Culturethèque Primary French Project scheme of work published by the Institut Français. This is designed to support the delivery of the Key Stage 2 Programme of Study whilst also building links between French and English literacy skills and providing opportunities to develop intercultural understanding.
